Prom hairstyles for men?

Right, theres a really important prom coming up in a day for me and i need to sort out my hair for it. My hair's a literal mess to be honest as in the following picture. I was thinking of cutting it shorter for the prom but got no idea how i should do it. I had a couple of suggestions below, but i wana know what you may think that could be done to my hair. Please show pictures if possible, so i can tell the hairdresser tomorrow.

The thing is that my forhead is really small about 2-3 fingers width, so hair that reveal my forehead might look a bit weird :S

Plus, if i completely spike my hair, you can see my scalp 2 because they are really thinning. =/
