kay i was gonna do this on youtube but i feel i'll get a more understanding crowd here. okay so imma big fan of twilight and i think stephanie meyer's books are being wrongfully targeted and im gonna try and get some things straight to think about for the haters.
the first issue the vampires. yes they don't burn in the sunlight and they sparkle. the first time i read the book i was excited and not paying attention so i was thinking ';oh wow his sparkles that so cool'; then the second time reading ';that's a little weird'; but when you think about it she was DREAMING this chapter and if she were to just say 'im gonna write a vampire book' sparkling is the last thing she would do but she didden't want to mess up the dream plus she might have been facing the window, who knows.
also Twilight is in the persective of a 17-year-old girl so the whole thing about is gonna show looks,(his eyes, her hair) see everyone says that she made something and called it a vampire when actually she did stay true to mythology alittle like how vampire are very good looking, how they move faster then humans some vampires even have the gold or red eyes Meyer just made it more creative with the vegataren part. even renesmee. ppl say Stephanie messed up her own plot or something about how vampire can't get others pregnant now in Breaking Dawn she's pregnant, well it's called a ';INCUBUS'; not saying the cullens are evil inubus/succubus but its possible. the word for renesmee is called Dhampir. even in other novels (ex; night world) the vampire don't burn in sunlight so steph in not the only one to alter things abit
another issue is the charcters, Bella mostly. critcis say she's whiny, shallow, mary-sue and ani-feminest. well it's a romance story and she's a ordinary girl. not all girls have hobbies or some kinda talent. even the character! knows how mary-sue shes acting not even mary-sue but a martyr. Bella is in no way a role model cuz her actions cannot be copyed. the series is all about time. Bella want to be with Edward before she's old enough to be his mom. so she marryed once out of high school and allowed legally to marry, the baby part she did not expect so she can't be blamed. also that bella was an extention of Meyer well meyer has stated after getting the Edward caracter she found bella harder to make and later on she loved Bella like a daughter thats how she got her name and looks both gentically from her and her husband and the name Isabella she was gonna name her daughter but ended up having sons.
edward's character is also aimed at but i see nothing wrong. his a gentlemen, want to wait till marrage to have sex, and ultimatly does not want bella to be a vampire. ppl say his controling when it comes to who bella can and cannot see, he want bella to see all her human firends not jacob because his a werewolve and young. Jacob has a short temper and edward does not want bella to get hurt like Emily (imprint of the leader Sam) did. her face was permantly scared and in the end he let bella go over even invited Jacob to the wedding so it was all in good intentions. and somthing about character delopment and nobody learned from there mistake. nobody really made a mistake it's there personality you can't change that Meyer tried to make it was real as possible with the dash of fantasy. in real life do we really understand our mistakes. no not really
i have a big question, how did twilight become associated with Harry Potter? is it becuz of robert pattinson? get over it cedric died not roberts career. vampire and witches are not related in anyway nor is it mentioned in any books. i've seen harry potter and had time to read the first 2 books but really the actors are getting alittle too old and is J.K even making the book anymore or is the company just throwing movies out, what's a movie adaptaion without a book to adapt. not hating on it i just have that question
Twilight's huge and will be for a few more years while the movies and merchendise, plus the graphic novel coming srry but burning the book on youtube is not gonna make summit close the project. it's a waste of money, time and effort

and if you changed your mind to tolerate the books meant not only for girls cuz i know 10 guys and seen so far 15 on the internet who love the series.Why twilight should be tolerated(hater's plz come with a open-mind)?
I have counter-arguments. But I have not tried to insult anyone in making them. If you think I said something mean, please know it was an accident and I intend no harm, just honest discussion. ^_^ (Also, this is long so I'm not proof-reading it. Sorry for typos!)
I can accept changing vampire mythos. Just about every vampire story deals with what makes a vampire and such differently. I think the sparkling is funny, but it's not the worst thing she could have done. At least it means they cans eel Edward body glitter and make some money, lol. My biggest problem with the vampires is actually that they are too strong. No human could kill a Twilight vampire. Because of this, there is no reason for them to hide from humans. Based on the power of the vampires, humans should all be herd beasts used only to feed (and possibly entertain) their vampire overlords. There is no altruistic, dominating, non-vampiric presence that explains what could possibly force vampires to remain in hiding either.
I don't think you can explain Bella away by claiming she's young. If her dependency on having a male figure in her life were presented as a bad thing, it would be okay. But these books depict it as perfectly acceptable (even good) that Bella cannot live her life without a man to love her and take care of her. Trust me, a good writer can use a first person perspective and still have the narrator be quite obviously wrong in some of his/her thoughts.
I think Edward's intentions are good, but some of his actions are inexcusable. Watching your girlfriend sleep is fine, sweet even. Watching a random girl sleep when she has no idea you're there is stalking. And Edward has no right to claim Jacob is too ';dangerous'; for Bella when Edward himself has an appetite for his blood. I realize he conquered it, but that should enable him to believe Jacob capable of conquering his temper. Also, he should trust Bella's judgment, but instead he insists that only HE knows what is right for her. He does it when he tries to push her away. He does it when he leaves her. He does it when he says she can't visit Jacob. etc.
Strangely enough, the people most likely to bash Jacob's character are fans of twilight. Why is that do you think? because Jacob was the reason I made it through the last three books (finding out about the werewolf character everyone talked about was how I got through book one to make it to book two to meet him, lol).
You know, I have no idea how Harry Potter and Twilight came to be associated. My best guess is that they've both gotten a lot of people to read who otherwise wouldn't have, and they're both very popular. Plus both are written by women. That's all I can think of. The stories are dramatically different (different genres too), so they really shouldn't be compared.
I'm not sure what you mean about ';a movie adaption without a book to adapt.'; There are seven books in the Harry Potter series. J. K. Rowling completed it over a year ago. Six of them have been made into movies. The last book will be split into two movies so they don't have to cut as much. Every Harry Potter movie is adapted from a pre-existing book.

I know where you're coming from but the Yahoo Answer audience is not going to take your side. I'm a fan of Twilight, I enjoyed the books. However, there are many people out there who are quick to say they're ';crap'; and that the whole concept is stupid. It's not stupid, it's creative. When Harry Potter first came out, there were people who said the series was garbage, this same problem is now being pushed onto the Twilight series. People love to hate what is popular simply because they think it makes them look edgy and cool. Don't listen to them. If you like the books, then so be it but trying to make stubborn people see your point of view is never going to work.
I believe that Harry Potter is constantly compared to Twilight because they're both very popular book series based off of mythical creatures.

Just saying, that wasn't her original idea. Anne Rice did something a lot like that in Interview with a Vampire. Louis drank animal blood so he wouldn't have to drink human blood.

Also, this doesn't really improve your point because that's kind of saying that Edward cares about how Bella looks. I get what you're tryign to say but maybe that wouldn't have been the best way...(don't get me wrong, I love Twilight, just pointing out some flaws in your little rant/speech thing).

I completely agree with this argument that we shouldn't compare HP and Twilight just because they're two completely different stories that don't have much to do with each other. Twilight is a love story and HP is an adventure about a battle between good and evil. But these two things actually can be related because vampires and warlocks and witches are both part of the fantasy and mythical/magical world.
Yeah, I just like to argue with people. I like Twilight, just thought I'd let you know a few of the faults in this speech. Thanks for taking a stand, but really, that was kind of weak. But not terrible. Good work, though? Work on your grammar and spelling and chatspeak usage and maybe then people will take you seriously.

Let me lay this out for you: the Twilight series is addictive in its story line, but poorly written. You can protest all you want, but you can't deny that Bella actually has very little personality...she narrates the story but has very few attributes other than being clumsy, naturally pretty, a bit shy, and random outbursts. Her character is entirely too predictable and has very little substance. This is probably what people meant when they said she was ';shallow.'; Ms. Meyer repeats details (many which go something like, ';He placed his hand on her cheek. The icey temperature made her quiver. She felt a raging passion deep inside...etc). Also, the stories are very anti-climatic. Think of the end of Breaking Dawn...they all gather for some huge battle. Then they...pack up and go home? and live happily ever after? You have GOT to be kidding me. Stephanie Meyer does not know how to write a complex plot. She doesn't know how to wrap things up.
And Twilight should never be associated with Harry Potter...at least Ms. Rowling's writing became more intricate and pensive as Harry grew older and she became more experienced as an author.
People don't hate Twilight simply because it is annoying. They hate it because it is a story of no depth or hidden meaning. It does not make you contemplate your life.
Even Stephen King dislikes the franchise. And he has written many more bestsellers than Stephanie Meyer ever will.
That's a week and a half I'll never get back, wasted on waiting for those books to mean something.
why do you care if people love twilight or not? nobody is telling you that you aren't aloud to read the books or enjoy them, not everyone is going to like every book because everyone has different tastes. some people are harry potter people, some people are twilight people some people like non fiction, romance or thrillers.
i personally haven't had the chance to read the twilight books yet so I don't pass and judgments on them but just because other people didn't enjoy them doesn't mean you cant as I'm sure they are quite good considering how many people have read them so far.
I think people compare them to the Harry Potter books because both are about teenage mystical beings and have become extremely popular, people love to compare things.
Anyways I hope you continue to enjoy twilight and other books :)
I just found her writing very weak, she seemed to change her characters personalities in the last book. And being a bit of a feminist I found Bella to be a bit annoying on how she seemed to need Edward and can't do anything on her own. The Twilight series was too cheesy for me, I guess it just isn't my type of book.
Twilight became associated with Harry Potter due to the fact that both have a some mythological creatures in them, very popular with teens, and Robert Pattinson played Cedric in one of the movies. I know the actors are getting old but it takes time to make the movies and they are going as fast as they can. Harry Potter is going to be around much longer than Twilight. J.K. Rowling's writing is wonderful. She makes it seem so believable and keeps her plots interesting and unique. I started reading HP in the first grade and now I'm a senior in high school so I've grown up with the books. They have lasting quality and will still be thriving long after the Twilight craze dies out.

Look, not all 17-year-old girls care only about looks, and what's more, Bella is supposedly mature for her age. She is a Mary Sue, because all the good things happen to her for no good reason. Twilight is for girls. You'll notice that an overwhelming majority of Twilight fans are girls. And an overwhelming majority of Antis are girls too.

twilight was a good read but what was in it was kind of stupid but if u want real vampires then try sanguinarius.org but u can't be turned an if u spam them with that nonsense then i will riun your life believe me its actually not that hard as long a u dont riun this then go ahead and try it
