WhyTF is Edward Cullen mentioned as gay in Wikipedia?

This is what I did.

I needed some info on EC, so I googled ';edward cullen'; and it took me to the official wikipedia page.

Here is a copy paste from the 1st paragraph of that page.

Edward Cullen (n茅 Horace P. McTitties) is a homosexual from Stephenie Meyer's Toilet series. He features in the books Toilet, Jew Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, as well as the Toilet film, and the as yet unfinished novel Midnight Sun - a re-telling of the events of Toilet from Edward's perspective. Edward is not a vampire who, over the course of the Toilet series, falls in love with, marries, and has a child with Jacob Black, a human teenager who later chooses to become a werewolf also. In the 2008 Toilet film, Edward is played by actor Robert Pattinson.

I could not believe my eyes, so I saved the page.

I refreshed the page and here is what it showed-

Edward Cullen (n茅 Edward Anthony Masen) is a fictional character from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. He features in the books Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, as well as the Twilight film, and the as yet unfinished novel Midnight Sun - a re-telling of the events of Twilight from Edward's perspective. Edward is a vampire who, over the course of the Twilight series, falls in love with, marries, and has a child with Bella Swan, a human teenager who later chooses to become a vampire also. In the 2008 Twilight film, Edward is played by actor Robert Pattinson.

This was 5 minutes ago and I checked and rechecked to see if I was dreaming or whether today is the 1st of April.

My question is - whose sick idea is this? And how can a reputable source like Wikipedia fall prey to a joke like this?

Please check and share your views.WhyTF is Edward Cullen mentioned as gay in Wikipedia?
Because it's true.

And Wikipedia is editable to the masses.WhyTF is Edward Cullen mentioned as gay in Wikipedia?
Wikipedia is not reliable, at all. Since anyone can come and change the information, you should never rely on the information presented there, especially for research papers.

In this case, someone decided to mess with Edward because he sparkles, which is apparently ';gay.'; People are being immature.

But don't ever trust wikipedia, in general. If you want to know about Edward Cullen, I suggest trying one of the quadrillion fansites dedicated to him and the Twilight series. Twilightlexicon.com, maybe?
Never use Wikipedia as a source... FOR ANYTHING. If you go and make an account on Wikipedia, you can then go in and change whatever you want. So probably some jokester idiot went online and posted that... It's not true! (Obviously!)
Being a fictional character: up to scratch idea
LOL That's HILARIOUS.

Wikipedia is modifiable by people who register as users. Users can modify information, add to it, correct, it, etc. It's why Wikipedia should never be used as a research source for essays and such. However, THAT is freakin' hilarious oooh my gosh I wish I had seen that. Obviously someone corrected it quite promptly and that's why you saw it change when it refreshed.
some users on wikipedia like to mess with ppl...and that's why wikipedia is not really a reliable source
Wikipedia can be edited by anybody. And one of the more common edits that is done is vandalism - such as what you read the first time. More common vandalism would include deleting large sections of the article, or adding stupid stuff like ';FRED DURST IS COOL HAHA.'; Other users can see the vandalism and quickly revert it back to the previous version - what you saw the second time. If you were to look at the history page, you would see this happening over and over in the history of the page.

No one ever said Wikipedia is a reputable source. This is why - anyone can edit it. Most of the time, most of the major articles are of a decent quality, but you may miss or not recognize something that isn't true.
On wikipedia, anyone can edit a page, therefore, the people who changed the words from EC's sight, obviously doesnt like twilight.

Dont get to angry, as wikipedia will edit the changes back, as you can see, and if edits to a page are necessary, they will be saved.
because he probably is. no um its really easy to change info on a page but it gets changed within a day if its wrong
haha thats very funny haha weird... Are you sure u didn't right that in yourself
I have to admit, I snickered a bit...

But Wikipedia is sometimes unreliable. Anyone in the world with access with a computer can change the information on the website into however they see fit. My teacher told me that one of her friends went onto Harvard Law School's Wikipedia page, and changed every name on the page to HIS name.

(It's probably changed back correctly by now, though...)
reputable? i think not. wikipedia is a public site that can be altered by anyone. The twilight series is just as disliked and unpopular with people as it is liked and popular. this article was altered, obviously, by someone who is not a fan. However, wikipedia does have admins who try to monitor and correct hijinks such as this.

while it is misleading for people who are genuinely uninformed, it is sometimes funny. I like the twilight series, but i am not offended and appreciate the humor.
That made me laugh. Its not true. Wikkipedia is not always reliable, jokersters can modify the content. Usually people check to make sure the information is correct, but not always.
What happened was a Twi-hater vandalized the Edward Cullen article. Then someone else reported the vandalism to Wikipedia and/or undid the changes. Plain and simple, and nothing to worry about.

If an article becomes a frequent target for vandalism, then Wikipedia generally temporarily locks the article so that no one can change it. They might lock a celebrity's article when that celebrity dies, receives some high-profile negative publicity, or for some other reason gets a lot of attention and their article gets a sudden spike in hits -- for instance, if Wikipedia had been around in 1994, they would have locked O.J. Simpson's article when he was arrested for murder.

Edward Cullen's article is probably getting more interest than usual due to New Moon having just come out, increasing the likelihood that some doofus would come along and vandalize the hell out of it. That seems to have been exactly what happened, but the damage was quickly undone. Don't be surprised if Wikipedia locks Edward's article!

Like others have said, because anyone can edit a Wikipedia article, it's really easy for garbage to get in there and it should not be considered a reliable source for information. But since it's easy to fix, there's no point in worrying about it.
You can change anything on Wikipedia whenever you want to, so apparently some Twilight hater posted that and then someone changed it again. Just dont listen to it, because you can't ever trust Wikipedia.
Because if you wanted to you could go on to Wiki and change it. People can put what ever they want on Wiki, I sometimes go on there and correct wrong info. A person who doesn't like Twilight wrote it. In college they won't let you use it on a paper because the find that 80% of the information on there is wrong.
Anyone can paste and edit on Wikipedia. But I can't deny, when I read that I laughed for five minutes. TWILIGHT (Toilet! Hahaha!) SUCKS!!! PERIOD.
AHHAHAHAHA! The truth finally is revealed! Take that all you dumb little tweens!
